A SCOUT fair in Eastfield proved a big success, raising around £500 for the group.

The event at Loders Green was held in aid of the 49th Eastfield Scout Group and featured a visit by Santa, a tombola and raffle, stalls, games and refreshments.

Group Scout Leader Paul Deighton said: “Everyone enjoyed it and the small ones loved seeing Santa.

“We re-established the Christmas Fair about four years ago and now do one every year.”

He added that most of the organising had been done by secretary Linda Pennock, saying: “She did a lot of work - she’s an absolute gem.”

The group is now planning social events for the New Year and is on the lookout for new leaders.

Representatives have been working closely with schools to spread the message about what the Scouts do.
