SCARBOROUGH Rugby Union Club members are swapping scrums for scones as they back a fundraising tea party campaign.

Players are showing their support for the Blooming Great Tea Party campaign in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Local community fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care Michael Streets said: “It is great to have the backing of our local rugby team and we are delighted to have their help in asking everyone in the community to host their own tea party to help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care this summer. Holding a Blooming Great Tea Party is such an easy way to get together with friends or family.

“Let’s face it, who can’t resist a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake? The money raised by simply popping the kettle on will help more local Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care to patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.”
