VISITORS to the Sea Life Centre have been admiring photos of well-known people taken underwater and displayed in fishtanks.

Celebrations of the Sea, described by promoters as the world’s first underwater photography exhibition, featured 10 images of a TV presenter, a chef, a diver, a yachtsmen, fishermen and lobsterpot makers.

They were taken by Kate Westaway, who previously photographed rare marine life in waters across the globe and film stars including Angelina Jolie.

The exhibition was launched by the Shipwrecked Mariners Society, one of the oldest charities providing financial support to former seafarers, in honour of “unsung heroes of the sea”.

The photos were displayed at the Sea Life Centre from last Wednesday until yesterday.
