AN EVENING of entertainment and food raised a cool donation to the tune of £1,172 for a local children’s hospice.

The Shadows tribute band and organist Ray Kirk played out to over 100 people, with actor Ken Kitson also in attendance, at the first of two fundraising events for Martin House Children’s Hospice, organised by North Bay Railway.

Ron O’Connor, Chairman of Scarborough friends of Martin House Children’s Hospice, said: “It was an excellent do, well attended and a good atmosphere.

“We’re very grateful to the artists for appearing, and thanks to all North Bay Railway staff and everyone for attending and being so generous.

The second event is a Meet and Greet question and answer evening with Martyn Moxon and a selection of Yorkshire County Cricket Club players.

The session will take place on Thursday, August 18, at 8pm.

A meal prepared by the Glasshouse Bistro chefs will be included in the ticket price.
