SUMMER is looking brighter for a Scarborough school boy who is suffering from Leukaemia thanks to a generous donation from his father’s colleagues.
Eleven-year-old Shaun Baldwin is in his second year of a three year course of treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
In between trips to Leeds general infirmary for chemotherapy the brave youngster now has something to look forward after a generous donation means he can now go on holiday with his family.
A total of £770 was raised for Shaun by two of his father’s colleagues at Bluebird Vehicles, in Plaxton Estate, Eastfield.
The fundraisers took part in a 115 mile sponsored walk in aid of Shaun, walking a round trip from Scarborough to Whitby and finishing in Filey.
Shaun’s father Jeff Baldwin said: “It is just wonderful to have this donation as we wouldn’t have been able to take Shaun very far this summer because of financial implications.
“It is a fantastic things these lads have done for him.
“Thanks go to Joe and Adam and all my colleagues at Bluebird vehicles for their donations, and thanks also to the management team for their flexibility allowing frequent trips to Leeds General Infirmary for Shaun.”
Mr Baldwin says they will be using the money for a trip to Centre Parks and an extended holiday in Wales.
