TRIBUTES have been paid to veteran broadcaster and charity campaigner Sir Jimmy Savile who has died aged 84.

Police were called to his Leeds home today where they discovered his body.

It is understood that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Savile had strong links with Scarborough and still owned a flat in the town.

He was born in Leeds in 1926 and was the youngest of seven children.
