Two sisters are taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for Bliss, the leading UK charity for premature and sick babies.

Carly Macdonald and Charlotte Adams, from Scarborough, chose the charity after Carly gave birth to her twin girls Mitzee and Niamh 10 weeks early in 2012.

Over 200 babies are born every day needing specialist care, and without the care and equipment at Leeds General Infirmary, the twins may not have survived.

Bliss provided advice and support for Carly and her family during the difficult time, and now the sisters want to give something back.

With support from sister Charlotte, Carly has lost over six stone since she started her preparation for the half marathon two years ago.

The Great North Run will take place on Sunday September 7, starting in Newcastle and finishing at South Shields.
