EMERGENCY services were called to Scarborough’s South Bay beach when a child was reported missing yesterday.
The alarm was raised at 12.50pm and when members of Scarborough Coastguard arrived at the scene they realised there were a total of three children missing from separate groups in the area.
Mark Appleby, the station officer at Scarborough Coastguard station, said: “Police and the beach lifeguards were also in attendance. Once on scene it was established that there was actually three children missing from separate parties.
“Because of this the coastguard requested the launch of Scarborough inshore lifeboat to join the search.”
At 1.30pm the missing children were found safe and well. One youngster had walked from South Bay back to the family’s car in North Bay
