In a superb community effort, 48 riders ‘geared up’ to raise money for charities on Sunday 30 April outside the New Inn at Thornton le Dale.

The cycle spin lasted for 12 hours using two ‘Spin’ bikes, with riders pedalling for 30 minutes each. The amount raised was £3,400 which was donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance and two local charities (Manthorpe Park and Thornton Le Dale Village Hall).

The organiser of the event, Roger Sharples, said: “I would like to thank the riders and their sponsors, PACE cycles, Peter Nelson Fitness Studios, local businesses and individuals who donated raffle prizes, and everyone who made this event such a success.”
