A couple from Helmsley are set to raise money for Scarborough Hospital’s maternity unit in memory of their daughter Gypsy.
Annika and James Dowson lost their baby girl, who was stillborn, on October 28, 2008.
They have decided to do the 48-mile Tabular Hills walk, which runs between Scarborough and Helmsley, passing through farmland, moorland and forest.
Annika said: “It just seemed right - Scarborough being where Gypsy was born and Helmsley being where she is now at rest.
“We know this is a huge challenge, but it’s one we’re committed to.”
The couple are aiming to complete the walk over the course of four days, starting at Helmsley Cemetery on October 30.
Annika said: “Scarborough maternity were such a huge support to us during this tragic and heart-breaking time that we decided to do something in memory of Gypsy, and also to help other bereaved parents like ourselves.”
