SCARBOROUGH dance star Matt Flint took part in a concert in support of a teenager who is battling two brain tumours.

Matt, the winner of BBC One’s So You Think You Can Dance, was joined by West End star Laurie Scarth, of Swinton, during the fundraiser at Norton College for Laura Tierney, 17, of Malton.

Following performances from Laurie and Matt, Norton-based dance school Dance Expression held a family Zumbathon and raffle raising £1,500 for Louby’s Lifeline, the fundraising group set up by Laura’s friends and family to aid Brain Tumour research.

And the crowd was treated to an “extremely emotional surprise” when the former Norton College student, known to her friends as Louby, turned out to thank everyone for taking part.

Laura was diagnosed with two serious brain tumours in April and is currently receiving radiotherapy at St James’ Hospital in Leeds. Future fundraisers are currently being planned by Louby’s Lifeline.
