Two winners from last year's STARS awards

The winners have been announced at this year’s annual STARS awards - Scarborough’s Talented Apprentices Recognised with Success.

This year, the organisers received a record number of nominations with well over 100 submitted.

The prestigious presentation evening was held at the Scarborough Spa tonight when the winners and runners up got their awards.

STARS was first set up in 2015 with the support of the National Careers Service.

The Borough of Scarborough did not have a collaborative apprenticeship event that support and praised not only the achievement of local apprentices but also looked at raising awareness and aspirations of those looking to go down the apprenticeship route.

A spokesman said: "This has now become an annual event and has only been made possible through the amazing support of our sponsors; main event sponsor Yorkshire Coast Homes, followed by our other sponsors that include Keepmoat, Willmott Dixon, Yorkshire Coast College and Adult Learning Service NYCC."
