MEMBERS of Support for Carers stepped out to raise cash and the profile of the cause.

The charity based at Londesborough Business Park in Scarborough has been going since 1986 and provides advice and support.

“We have 200 carers on our database, the majority of them are 55 and over and deal with all kinds of illness and fraility.

“We enable carers to care for people in their homes for a longer time,” said manager Claire Walters.

The sponsored walk in Peasholm Park was led by Sammy Ryder – who attends exercise classes put on by Support for Carers – and raised £25.

“The group is starting a Dolly Mixture Club – sessions for recycled teenagers – at Emmanuelle St John Church in Falsgrave next month. It is also wants volunteers. For further information about the group can contact Mrs Walkers on 364808.
