A SCARBOROUGH supermarket has been doing its bit to help the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Staff from the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Alzheimer’s Society were on hand to help out with a Bank Holiday fundraiser at Tesco’s Westwood store.

As Tesco’s chosen charity the Alzheimer’s Society is also set to benefit from funding which will raise awareness of the cause.

Helen Williams, information worker at the society said: “We are Tesco’s charity of the year and Paul, Janet and the staff here have been holding all sorts of events to raise money for us.

“They have had everything from cake stalls to guess the value of the trolley contents, so we wanted to come and lend them a hand.

“Our partnership with Tesco is not just helping with fundraising but also with raising public awareness as they are paying for two Community Roadshow buses to travel the country providing information.

“One of these buses will be in Yorkshire later in the year.”
