BARGAIN hunters were out in force for the first day of Boyes’ sale in Scarborough.
Eager shoppers were queuing up outside the store awaiting the doors to open for the sale, which has been a fixture in the town for over a century.
One of the first through the door was 70-year-old Anita Dawe from Cayton. She worked at the store in the early 70s and remembers the sale fondly.
She said: “I remember when the queue to get in was around the block.
“I used to love working on sale day, it was brilliant.
Store Manager Chris Golder said: “This is our busiest sale of the year, and these are our two busiest days, even busier than Christmas.”
