The story of Noah’s Ark was brought to life during a magical outdoor performance in Scarborough.

The show, titled Ark of the Animals, was a joint project between Yorkshire Coast College and Beach Hut Theatre Company, celebrating puppetry, visual arts and live drama.

It featured stunning animal costumes by students on the college’s costume degree course, which were worn by local actors and some of the students themselves.

The script, written by Alison Watt, director of Beach Hut Theatre Company, told the story of Noah’s biblical tale from the animals’ perspective.

Onlookers of all ages were treated to a series of outdoor performances in and around Scarborough town centre and South Bay.

The event culminated in a final performance, with live music, on South Bay beach, on Saturday afternoon.

Laura Canfield, marketing officer at Yorkshire Coast College, said: “Everyone was so pleased with how it went.

“Lots of people turned out, including college staff, and brought their children along.

“People joined the parade as we went along. Lots of people were coming out of shops to look and take photos!

“Everyone was so impressed with the costumes and the animation - it just felt like you were in a theatre watching a show.”
