STUDENTS from Scalby School enjoyed a winter wonderland during their Christmas Fair.
The event raised nearly £5,000 for its five year groups’ charities - The Rainbow Centre, LEPRA Health in Action, St Catherine’s Hospice, Help for Heroes and Ellie’s Fund - and £400 for the Salvation Army.
Headteacher David Read said: “I am extremely grateful to everyone who made this most enjoyable and successful event possible.
“We were bowled over by the generosity of many small local businesses who gave us some fantastic raffle prizes, and are also indebted to Mr Frank Robinson of Tulip, who gave us sausages, bacon and cold meat for the very popular refreshments, as well as two hampers for the raffle.”
Assistant Headteacher Vicki Michael, who organised the event, added: “We intended this to be an occasion for the community to come together and have fun, and that is exactly what happened.
“Many students, staff, parents and governors gave up their Saturday to help and I would like to thank them all.”
