A GROUP of 46 German students were treated to a guided tour of Scarborough’s Town Hall.
The teenagers were from a school in Bad Lauterberg, near Scarborough’s twin town of Osterode am Harz.
They were greeted at the Town Hall by Scarborough’s mayor Hazel Lynskey and mayoress Sheila Kettlewell, who gave them a historical tour of the building.
Cllr Lynskey said: “We told them about who used to live there and about some of the artefacts in and around the building.
“We also showed them round the mayor’s parlour and council chamber.”
The students were also shown a Powerpoint presentation about Scarborough’s urban renaissance by the council’s investment manager Nick Taylor.
Cllr Lynskey added: “The students were really interested and really responsive. They asked lots of questions and were at different stages with their English, so their teacher translated in parts. We loved doing the tour and are very proud of the Town Hall.”
