STUDENTS at Scarborough College could be on their way to Shakespearean stardom if they are successful in the regional heats of a BBC competition.

Estella Harrowing, India Cartwright and Rebecca Arundel will play on in the BBC Off By Heart Shakespeare contest regional heat held in Leeds on November 22.

All the world’s a stage for the eventual winner of the national competition which is aimed at discovering a great Shakespearean actor and offers a life changing opportunity to become the next big name in theatre.

Isobel Nixon, Head of Scarborough College, said: “The girls were the outright winners in the college heat and now they embark on a summer of rehearsal and preparation for the event in November.

“The three have exceptional acting talent, and the college wishes them every success in the competition.”

Competitiors who progress through the regional stages will be coached by a host of professional actors, the Royal Shakespeare Company and they will also be filmed in a BBC2 documentary following their journey to the February final.
