SUNSHINE, live entertainment and stalls pulled in the crowds at Scarborough and District’s MENCAP summer fair, with proceeds going towards local people with learning disabilities.
In total £1,200 was raised, which volunteer fundraiser Jenny Stamford hailed as a great success.
She said: “We were very lucky to have a sunny afternoon. People came out to support us yet again.
“The mayor and mayoress opened the event, we had entertainment with young people with learning disabilities who do music, entertainment by the Brookleigh Theatre Group and Ben and Friends.
“We were thrilled! It’s our major fundraiser of the year, and to raise that much money is fabulous, particularly as we’re going through difficult times.
“We’re going to refurbish the main hall with the money raised.
“Thank you also to the local businesses who supported us with prizes for the raffle and tombola, and to St John’s Ambulance who were also there. And thank you very much to the people of Scarborough for supporting this local MENCAP organisation.”
