RESIDENTS and holidaymakers alike were out in force enjoying unseasonable high temperatures over the weekend.
On Saturday – the first day of October – thermometers were tipping 26C (78.8F), making it nearly the hottest October day on record.
Crowds flocked to Scarborough’s North and South bays to soak up the sunshine.
Yesterday was slightly cooler and cloudier, but there was no let-up in the numbers on the seafront, giving traders an autumn bonanza.
However, people are being encouraged to make the most of the good weather while it lasts, as the forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday features cloud and light rain.
Temperatures are expected to fall to 14C (57.2F).
