The Stephen Joseph Theatre’s Educational Literacy Project has been launched at Brompton and Snainton primary schools thanks to a sponsorship deal with Yorkshire Coast chartered accountants, tax and business advisors Lloyd Dowson which is backing the programme. The project theme is based on the SJT’s summer family musical production of The Boy Who Fell Into A Book. The original play by Alan Ayckbourn premiered in 1998 to mark the National Year of Reading.
Now Year 5 and 6 pupils at the schools will have the chance to delve further into the world of Grimm’s Fairy Tales and other stories which feature in the play, working with the SJT’s OutReach department and an illustrator to create drama and stories which will be filmed and published online.
David Dowson, pictured, centre, said: “We are delighted to be in partnership with the Stephen Joseph Theatre for the second year and to be sponsoring the new project.”
