Scarborough Surfing Festival 2014 is set to attract thousands of visitors to North Bay over the course of the weekend.

Many of the UK’s top professional surfers arrive in Scarborough to compete in the fourth annual UK Pro Surf Tour.

The biggest event on the Pro Surf UK circuit, last year’s event attracted around 10,000 visitors.

The event will also feature a stunt bike show, free surfing lessons for kids and a surf surgery for adults, a classic VW display, and a pop-up cinema.

The action starts at 9am on Saturday October 4 and runs through till 5pm on Sunday October 5.

The music line-up has been confirmed, with local favourites Connor and Nathen topping the bill. The hip hop/acoustic duo supported McBusted at the Open Air Theatre this summer, and will play alongside another local singer, Maisie Atkinson, and musicians from Yorkshire Coast College’s Underground Music Institute. The free music event is between 11am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Local surf businesses Secret Spot and Scarborough Surf School, Fluid Concept and Dexters Surf Shop are supporting the event to promote surfing as an extreme but safe sport by sharing their local surf knowledge, offering a surf surgery and taster session for young would-be surfers.
