Christian Aid Week - which runs until this weekend - has got off to great start in Scarborough with a number of events and fundraising activities taking place.
Proving popular is the cake stall at Boyes, which will be open each day until Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Contributions of cakes and biscuits will be gratefully received and can be handed in at the stall.
The week so far has also featured a sponsored walk, which started at St Michael’s Church. Walkers went down to the sea front and around the South Bay up to St Mary’s on the castle headland, returning to St Michael’s over the Spa Bridge and along the Esplanade. Refreshments were provided by ladies of both churches.
Volunteers for the house-to-house collections have been busy all week and receiving a welcome around the town.
