People are being encouraged to put their best foot forward and try a running taster session in advance of this year’s Nag’s Head Challenge and Family Fun Run.
The run takes place on Monday June 17 with registraton at the Nag’s Head from 6pm. The race, which is part of the Scalby Fair programme, is open to all and is free to enter.
On the run-up to the event, Scarborough Athletic Club is offering would-be participants chance to take part in a taster and training session on Thursday nights.
These sessions will take place at the Rugby Club starting on June 13.
Mick Thompson, press officer for the athletic club, said: “All standards are welcome to give it a try. Sessions will last up to 45 minutes and will start off very slowly with run/walks.
“Run leaders and qualified coaches will be on hand to give advice and lead the runs each week. Help and advice will be given.
“The cost is £10 for 10 weeks and hopefully runners will build up to a standard so they can easily join other runners at Scarborough Athletic Club.”
He added that one of the main aims was to help people get ready for events such as the Scalby Run and the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k on the November 3.
This year’s 4.5-mile Nag’s Head Challenge run will be over a new course, featuring three laps around the village and its outskirts.
The junior fun run takes place over a timed one-mile course.
