A FUND-RAISING group which has raised more than £42,000 for the RNLI has just celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Cayton Ladies Lifeboat Guild marked the occasion with a Big Brew afternoon tea event complete with a specially decorated cake.
Committee member Carol Dickens, who has been with the organisation for the past 22 years, said the amount they had raised over the years was not bad for a small group.
She said: “It’s an achievement. It’s wonderful because it’s a little group. We enjoy fund-raising very much.
“This was one of the first things that I did when we moved to the area from York. It was something that was useful and a good way to make friends as well.”
And funds are set to be boosted with a donation from a participant who is running in tomorrow’s Great North Run.
Members of lifeboat fund-raising groups in Scarborough and Filey also attended the event. For further information contact (01723) 862331.
