Teenager assaulted

Scarborough police are appealing for information following an assault in the town.

It occurred between 3.45pm and 4pm on Monday July 23, as a 17-year-old local girl walked under Manor Road bridge.

A man grabbed her by the arm. The victim managed to break loose of the grip without suffering any injuries.

The suspect is described as 6ft 2in with a large muscular build and broad shoulders. At the time he was wearing a navy blue puffa jacket and possibly tracksuit bottoms.

PC Huw Walkey, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “At the time of the assault the weather was very warm and I am positive that anyone who saw someone wearing a thick padded jacket would have thought it unusual.

“If you know who committed this assault or saw a man matching his description in the area at the time, please contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.“

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact Scarborough police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Huw Walkey.

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12120120405.
