BURNISTON and Cloughton Village Hall has a brand new floor thanks to a kind donation.

The renovation of the wood floor, which cost around £2,500, was funded by Burniston Methodist Church.

Village hall committee member Barbara Hill said: “Everybody is really pleased and we’re very grateful to the church.

“As you go in it really gives the hall a lift.”

Mrs Hill explained that the village hall committee had put a bid forward through the Voice Your Choice exercise, but had been unsuccessful.

The church had then stepped in and offered to help.

Mrs Hill said: “The methodist church does use the hall on occasions, and they used it quite a bit when they were re-doing the church.

“They do a barbecue every year for our sports and they did one for the Royal Wedding, so we do have close links.” The floor has been sanded and resealed. The sports markings have also been put back.
