The Remedy call the tunes

ROCK and indie covers band the Remedy return to action following a short winter break with a brace of gigs in Scarborough this weekend.

They will perform at the Newcastle Packet from 9.30pm on Friday and Itis Itis from 9pm on Saturday.

The five-piece, aged 25-32, was formed from the ashes of former local favourites the Variants and features Simon Vooght on vocals, James Hanley on guitar, John Thornton on bass, Adam Mackenzie on keyboards and guitar, and Paul Shepherd on drums.

The band played their first gig at Eastfield Sports and Social Club last April and rounded off 2010 with a storming show at the Ramshill just before Christmas.

Tracks by the Strokes, the Charlatans and the Kaiser Chiefs promise to bolster a setlist already featuring classics from the likes of the Killers, Kings of Leon and the Stone Roses.

After this weekend, their next gigs are at the Londesborough Arms in Seamer (Feb 12), the Albert (Feb 19), Itis Itis (Feb 26) and Riskers (March 5).
