SCARBOROUGH’S Stephen Joseph Theatre has been awarded £210,000 to help future fundraising programmes.
The theatre was awarded the sum following an application in January for the Arts Council England’s new strategic fund – Catalyst.
Catalyst funding is designed to support arts organisations in developing their fundraising expertise, providing the investment to enable them to explore creative and innovative ways to generate income through fundraising activity.
Stephen Wood, executive director at the SJT said: “We are delighted that we are one of 173 successful arts organisations out of the 353 who applied for Catalyst funding from Arts Council England.
“It is a timely endorsement of the SJT’s important place in the country’s arts community and a great boost to our fundraising aspirations over the next three years when we are determined to raise more of our income from private sources. This will be particularly important with the probable pressure on arts funding both nationally and locally.”
Catalyst is a new £100 million culture sector-wide investment programme.
