A GRAND night is on the cards as tickets go on sale for Scarborough Mayor’s Masquerade Ball.

Mayor Hazel Lynskey and mayoress Sheila Kettlewell have been measured up for their masquerade outfits for the gala dinner dance.

The Dave Clegg band has been booked to play at the ball on Friday, April 8, along with five-piece, Yorkshire Wolds Versatile Brass.

The ball will be held at the Royal Hotel in St Nicholas Street with tickets priced at £35 per person.

Cllr Lynskey said: “The theme for my mayoral year is partnership and I could not ask for more from the Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers and Yorkshire Coast College, it has been a real pleasure to have them on board.

“The students from the college are not just playing a big part on the night, they have designed the outfits Sheila and I will be wearing and I can’t wait to see what they look like. They have also designed the tickets and posters and I am grateful for all their hard work.

“With fine food, amazing costumes and fabulous entertainment, this is gearing up to be one of the best social events of the year and I would urge people come along.”

Tickets are available from civic officer Irene Webster on (01723) 232311. Proceeds from the evening, which also includes and raffle and charity auction, will go to the Mayoress’ Community Fund which raises money for local people, groups and organisations.
