Here at Flamingo Land we’re just gearing up for the summer holidays, so this week I’ll be letting you know what we’re planning for the next few months.

But first things first, an update on our most popular new arrivals! Our three tiger cubs Kuasa, Bulan and Mentari have just reached 16 weeks old, and are getting bolder by the day. Although still relying on mum Surya for milk, they are just starting to take some solid food and can often be seen arguing over scraps of meat! As the cubs gain confidence, they are beginning to venture outside without the safety of their mum, and so this summer is your best chance to spot them yet! As they’re still quite young and thus a little nervous, I would recommend trying as early or as late in the day as possible when the park’s a bit quieter, or coming along to the keeper talk at 1pm. You’ll also have the chance to ask their keeper any questions you might have about the cubs.

Now that the schools have broken up for the summer, the zoo’s Education Centre will be running a variety of activities for our visitors, including free arts and crafts every day. You can find us in the main zoo square, just next to the Costa café. We’ll be decorating the roof of the tiger bridge with your pictures, so colour one in, hand it in and you might see yours up there! We’ll also be running a tiger-themed trail around the zoo, where you must find the coloured tigers and note down the facts written on them to be entered into a prize draw to win one of our fantastic Be a Zookeeper experiences. You can also find us up at the tigers at various times during the day, where we’ll be making badges and fridge magnets (a small charge applies). Of course, our keeper talks will be running every day as always (see your map for times and locations), and our bird and sea lion shows remain popular as ever. Plus don’t miss Meet a Creature, held at 2:30 each day over at Children’s Planet, or the Education Centre if the weather’s not great! We’re all crossing our fingers for a magical summer this year, and we’d love you to come along to experience it with us.

Flamingo Land is now fully open for the high season. See flamingoland.co.uk for prices and opening times.
