Pupils and staff at West Heslerton CE Primary School are celebrating after receiving an outstanding Ofsted report.
The school was delighted after inspectors rated it outstanding across the board in all categories, which include leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and early years provision.
Heather Clemence, chair of governors, said: “We are delighted to share with you the report from our recent Ofsted inspection.
“The staff, pupils, governors and parents all worked hard to prove just what an amazing place West Heslerton School is to learn in.
“We would like to congratulate all the pupils as they were extremely well-behaved and courteous throughout, and showed enthusiastic pride in their school.”
Inspectors found that the school has improved since the last inspection, which took place in June 2010 and came back with a rating of “good”.
The new report states that the quality of teaching “is never less than good and is often outstanding”, adding: “Teachers know their pupils well and so plan lessons which excite and motivate them to try their hardest.” It also remarked on the school’s “nurturing environment”.
