Bacon butties and mugs of tea were selling fast when a BBC film crew took over The Parlour Tea Rooms in Scarborough’s central Tramway building.

The crew of around 40 people have been in town all week filming a new three-part supernatural thriller, starring Michael Palin.

In the thriller, Remember Me, Palin plays a mysterious care home resident who is the only witness to a violent death. It’s his first leading role in a TV drama for more than 20 years.

Producer Chris Carey said the crew was filming around the Grand, the Spa, the beach and the lighthouse. He added: “Scarborough is going to look great!”

Michael Palin was unavailable for interview, but said in a statement: “Scarborough is a great location and I’ve had a little time this week between shots to get to know the place. We seem to have been blessed with great weather.”
