TRAVELLERS using the North Bay Railway on Friday are in for a treat because it is the first day of the Teddy Bear Express rides.
The return route – which runs from Peasholm Park station to Scalby Mills station – will be extra special because numerous teddy bears of all shapes and sizes will be placed along on route for passengers to spot and give a wave to.
A North Bay Railway spokesman said: “Even better, children travelling with their own teddies and a paying adult will travel free – a maximum two children per adult. Better still, teddy bears also travel free of charge.
“These Teddy Bear Express rides will take place right through the summer, every Friday throughout July and August.”
Local author, Joe Coates, will be around the Peasholm Park station for this first Teddy Bear Express day, promoting his North Bay Tales books.
His books include:
• A Teddy Bear’s picnic at North Bay Railway
• A Birthday Surprise at North Bay Railway
• and A Santa special to Remember at North Bay Railway.
The spokesman added: “These books tell a delightful story centred on this miniature train ride, enabling the child to relive the experience of North Bay Railway.
“A friend recently told Joe that his grandson had brought one of the books home from the library, and loved it so much that they just had to take him on the train.”
All books are available at the ticket office.
