A motorcycle passenger had to be airlifted from the A171 Scarborough to Whitby road this afternoon after she was thrown from the bike.
North Yorkshire Police were called at around 3.25pm following the collision near Fylingdales.
A single motorcycle came off the road on a bend and the rider and his pillion passenger were both thrown from the bike.
A police spokesman said: “The passenger, a 44-year-old woman, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
“The rider of the bike, a 33-year-old man, did not require hospital treatment.”
The road was reopened at around 4.30pm.
