A 21-year-old woman had to be taken to hospital today after she was involved in a collision with a white van in Castle Road.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said that she was currently undergoing treatment at Scarborough Hospital but it was thought her injuries were not life threatening.

He said: “We got a call from the ambulance service at 9.30am that a woman was injured following a collision with a van.

“She was lying in the middle of the road complaining of head and chest injuries.”

The spokesman said the van had been travelling along Castle Road, from the direction of Victoria Road, and the incident had taken place near the junction with Dean Road.

He said that the vehicle had been a white Peugeot Partner van and the driver was uninjured.

The road was clear by 9.45am.
