Police in Scarborough are investigating a collision between a cyclist and a black car which is believed to have been a Vauxhall Corsa.

It was at around 5.15pm on Monday near to the roundabout in Overdale in the Eastfield area and police are appealing for the driver to come forward.

The car had joined the roundabout from Eastway and the cyclist had travelled down Overdale before the incident.

It is understood that the woman driving the car stopped at the time but, following a verbal argument with the man riding the bike, she left the scene without giving him her details.

The cyclist suffered cuts and bruising as a result of the collision.

Traffic Constable Gareth Gilleard, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I ask the woman driving the car or anyone who can help to identify her to contact the police as soon as possible. I need to speak to her so that I can obtain her details.”

• Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to either contact TC Gilleard on 101, press option two and ask for Gareth Gilleard or send an email to gareth.gilleard@norrthyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
