Four in hospital after crash

FOUR people were taken to Scarborough Hospital after two cars were involved in a head-on smash on the A64 at Staxton.

The incident took place near the turning into Staxton village just before 3.15pm on Saturday.

It involved a black Skoda Fabia heading out of Scarborough and a blue Ford Fiesta travelling in the opposite direction.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police and firefighters were also called to the collision. The road was closed for a short time while the road was cleared.

A spokesman for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed four people had been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
