A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary yesterday after losing control of a silver 125cc Piaggio vehicle on the A64.

The 45-year-old was from the Leeds area and was travelling towards Malton at around 1pm when the incident happened.

He crashed into a barrier – and the incident closed the road in both directions for more than two hours.

Traffic Sgt Sean Grey, the officer in charge at the scene, said that no other vehicles were involved.

He added: “The road was closed in both directions, with diversions, for about two and a half hours.”

TS Grey confirmed that the motorcyclist had suffered serious injuries.
