A SCARBOROUGH nurse is among a four-strong team gearing up for a fundraising triathlon challenge.

Jeannette Richards, Karen Coles, Colin Simmons and Graham Golding will be taking part in the Driffield Triathlon on May 20.

They are raising money for Kingfishers Swimming Club, which is based at Scarborough Indoor Pool.

Mrs Richards, a practice nurse at Norwood House Surgery, raised money for the club in 2009 by running the London Marathon.

She explained that turning 50 last year had prompted her to look for a new challenge, and she has now been joined in her plans by three friends whose children also go to Kingfishers.

The triathlon will feature a 400m swim, 18K bike ride and 5K run. Mrs Richards said: “Training has been going well so far. I did get a small tear in my hamstring, but I’ve managed to swim and cycle without any problems and have just got back up to enough distance for the triathlon with the running in the past week.” Go to virginmoneygiving.com and search for Udo’s Choice Driffield Triathlon.
