Tribute to Jim Reeves

SINGER Paul Wheater will perform the music of Jim Reeves at tomorrow’s lunchtime concert at the library.

Paul was born in Westerdale and has been perfoming on the professional stage for 40 years.

After discovering a talent to sing like Reeves he became in huge demand all over the country, culminating in an appearance at the London Palladium.

At tomorrow’s concert he will sing a variety of songs including C&W, gospel and many Reeves hits.

Born in the USA in 1923, Reeves was a singer-songwriter popular in the 1950s and 1960s. He gained an international following for his smooth Nashville sound and became known as Gentleman Jim. His songs continued in the charts even after his death at the age of 40 in a plane crash.

The concert is due to start at 12.30pm.

Admission is by donation at the door to help to offset costs.
