There is still no indication as to why a boat sank in Scarborough harbour this morning.
The Scarlett Lou went down at dawn and the rising tide has now all but covered the vessel.
Despite the best efforts of harbour staff pools of oil can been seen floating on top of the water surrounding the boat.
One harbour user, who did not wish to be named, told The Scarborough News: “It’s a complete mystery what happened to it.
“It started when the tide was not that high and went under very quickly.
“It’s going to take a minor miracle to float it again.”
