TRADITIONAL sporting fun was the name of the game at Burniston and Cloughton Village Sports
Yesterday’s annual event featured a number of different competitions including an egg and spoon race, tennis ball race and the ever-popular duck race.
Organiser Cllr Andrew Backhouse said: “I’m really pleased with how it’s gone - the weather has been amazing.
“It’s a great way of getting the villages together and the kids really enjoy it.
“We always finish off with the duck race and I normally end up in the beck.”
Paul Johnson, of Burniston Chapel, who provide the barbecue each year, said: “It’s a whole village event and we always enjoy it, especially when the weather is like it is today.”
Burniston resident Dot Arey, a midday supervisor at Lindhead School, said: “My grandchildren are all grown up now but they used to love coming.
“It’s such a nice day for all the kids.”
