Volunteers needed to save lives

YORKSHIRE Ambulance Service NHS Trust is looking for community-minded locals in the Ryedale area to join the life-saving volunteer Community First Responder scheme.

New recruits will become part of voluntary schemes in Malton, Norton, Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Oswaldkirk which provide immediate medical care to members of the community in the vital minutes before an ambulance arrives.

Community First Responders are groups of volunteers who live and work in the local community and are trained by Yorkshire Ambulance Service in basic life-support, cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and oxygen therapy.

The ambulance service is holding an open evening in Malton at 7pm on Tuesday at Ryedale Community House, Wentworth Street.

Anyone who is interested in finding out more is urged to attend. Or you can call 0845 120 3155 or email responders@yas.nhs.uk
