Volunteers to ‘make a difference’ this week

VOLUNTEERS from local communities across Scarborough will be out in their respective areas over the next few days as they prepare to take part in ‘Make a Difference Day’ on Saturday.

Scarborough Council’s community environment unit is supporting the local volunteers in this national campaign which aims to get people out in to their community for as little as an hour or as much as a day to take part in activities which will improve the local environment. This could be something as simple as litter picking, planting bulbs or tidying a communal area.

Events can be held any time in the week leading up to Make a Difference Day.

Newby & Scalby in Bloom volunteers will be kick starting the activities on Friday with a work party aiming to clean and tidy many of the seats and benches in their area.

The group will meet at 9.30am in the Community Hall car park, Scalby Road.

Scarborough in Bloom will be holding a work party on Friday from 2pm where volunteers are planning on working in the town centre on a variety of tasks.

They will be meeting at Palm Court car park on Falconers Road and everyone is welcome to join in. All equipment is provided but potential volunteers are asked to wear suitable clothes and footwear for outdoor activities.
