SENIOR management from Scarborough’s St Catherine’s Hospice will be leading by example when they set the pace for a coast to coast challenge walk.

They will be taking part in a walk from Scarborough to mark the hospice’s 25th anniversary – and they are looking for local supporters to join them in the venture.

Ian Westmoreland, chairman of trustees, came up with the idea of a coast to coast walk over a number of different legs.

Coming in the opposite direction will be a team from St Catherine’s Hospice in Preston, who are also celebrating their silver anniversary.

Mr Westmoreland said: “With both St Catherine’s Hospices celebrating 25 years of care it seemed too good an opportunity to miss.

“We felt a coast to coast walk would celebrate the care that both hospices provide and also help to raise the profile of the hospice movement itself.”

The challenge will take place over five days, from August 19-23, and is being split into different legs which will be tackled in relays.

The plan is for the walkers to meet up at around half way, at Richmond, on August 23.
