Warning as ‘pranks’ increase

REPORTS of disorder have increased in recent days as youths carried out a series of dangerous pranks in Scarborough.

Fireworks have been thrown at properties in the Barrowcliff Estate and reports of eggs being thrown at homes have also been received by the police.

Youths have been shining laser pens into the eyes of passing motorists in Marine Drive.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “This is not harmless fun. These pranks can be very dangerous and we will take any reports seriously.

“They can cause fear to members of the public, particularly the vulnerable and the elderly.”
