Wash and shine for Mexico

A GROUP of Scarborough teenagers rolled up their sleeves as they scrubbed themselves a step closer to Mexico.

The youngsters ran a car wash for the day in a bid to boost their funds for the Mexico Rebuild Project.

A total of 15 teenagers are trying to raise enough money to go to Mexico where they will work with a family to rebuild their home.

The car wash raised around £270 towards to £20,000 total needed.

The youngsters, and five leaders, have raised around £5,000, and have a series of events lined up to help reach their goal.

Further car washes will be held on Saturday October 1, November 5, and December 3 between 10am and 4pm.

On Saturday, September of 17 there is an Auction of Promises between 7pm and 9pm, followed by a family quiz night from 7pm to 9pm on Friday, October 14. There will also be a Christmas craft fair on November 26, between 11am and 3pm. All events are being held at Burniston Methodist Church.
