Winds reaching 75mph are battering Scarborough with reports of possible flooding coming later in the day
The gusts and rain have been blowing through the town all morning.
At the moment the wind is blowing out to sea, giving the sea a calm appearance.
On the beach sandbags were being filled as a precaution by staff at the Silver Dollar amusements for when high tide arrives at 5.35pm.
Flood warnings have been put in place but Scarborough appears to have gotten off lightly so far, with police no weather related call-outs in the town.
